I just realized I’ve owned and been using the same towel for something like 35 years.
It’s a big multicolored striped beach type towel. It is truly ugly as sin.
It was a key component of a halloween costume when I was about 7 or 8.
It went all through sports with me in middle and high school.
It was handily present during an awkward moment with a high school girlfriend.
It moved out with me at 18.
It was with me when I shacked up with my first, well, Shack Mammy.
California, New Jersey, Oregon, Idaho other places, other jobs.
Hell, this fucking towel went with me to Iraq.
Yeah it’s got a couple tears and one of the corners is starting to fray, but still does it’s job.
This towel has seen me through a lot.
That’s a hell of a fucking towel.
(this came up because my wife wanted to chuck it. I said no.)

My Baby passed her test! She’s one step away from Citizenship, At which time she can freely use the same two word answer I usually use when questioned by nosy bureaucrats.
I’m not gonna get into Specifics (or even dates), but based on our situation, I’ve long suspected that someone/or multiple someones “had our back” so to speak through out this entire process.
To them I say thanks.

random thoughts on patriot radio…
1. I constantly hear about heavy metal poisoning of the water supply/food supply etc - yet every other ad on these shows is for some kind of fucked up snake oil silver or gold based food supplement. Last I checked, silver and gold are heavy metals in the same class as lead. (am I wrong here?)
2. Valid concerns sounded out about mercury based preservatives in vaccines, ring kind of hollow when shouted out by someone sporting skin tags - hint: the same mercury based preservative is used in tatoo ink. Say What? Mercury does some nasty shit biologically speaking, but isn’t it a bit late to complain about it at that point?

Finally got my drawing, painting & sculpting station sorted out in a way that meshes good with my tech (work) area without having to resort to bunk-desks.
All those cool fun projects I went on about wanting to do (new years rant) are back on track.
Blame the delay on my Irritation at IKEA for canceling my favored desk model, the Jerker (behold in all it’s glory) out of the blue for no fucking reason only to later replace it with the inferior “frederik”. I Knew I shoulda bought a couple spares damnit
Blame the delay on my central air unit going out on the hottest day of the summer.
Blame work
Blame wow,lotro,aoc,war, etc etc
OK don’t blame IKEA or any of the others, It was all me. well maybe work can take some blame, but I’ll go easy on work. without it i couldn’t buy various neat things that make life less of a drudge - things like pants, whiskey, Tortas, a new fuel pump for my rig, Copenhagen, tivo, and oh yeah, BIG ASS 26 inch HD monitors.
This thing is fucking huge. It’s almost too big. I thought i was doing fine with my trusty old 20″ scepter (from Costco) but damn this is nice.
It was also the catalyst for my recent burst of activity as far as getting shit sorted out spacewise.
All i need to locate now is a reasonably priced large format flatbed scanner (18″ by X minimum)

Worgen is the new alliance race, Goblins went horde (no big surprizes there.)
I guess i wont have to worry about it till around Grune 43, 2422 when the expansion is actually released.

I get home from work yesterday and Hackmaster Basic is waiting for me in my mailbox, having arrived about two days sooner than I’d expected. How fricking awesome is that? The game itself is right on target, surpassing all expectations. Combat looks flat out FUN. Converting a lot of the old stuff I’ve got in storage looks to be a breeze. I’ve rolled up a few Characters to get acquainted with the new rule set, and have even put together a serviceable dungeon crawl.
Now my only whine is “how long till the Hackmaster Advanced books come out?!?”
I noticed that Fantasy Flight Games is the current publisher of Talisman, an old favorite that went out of print a while back in despite being the most popular, well loved game of it’s kind. Once I confirmed that the The Fantasy Flight Games release of 4th edition includes actual paintable miniatures (like in the original) instead of the ridiculous cheap-assed cardboard cutouts that the previous publisher’s release had, I simply had no choice but to order it.
Oh and they’re also releasing the Expansions. Currently “Talisman - The Dungeon” is out (picking that up friday).
[Additonal - while scrounging around on the net I found this really cool Talisman related site.]
Blood Bowl! I think I’ve figured out what drives nostalgia… it’s being able to afford all the cool toys and shit that you couldn’t afford when you’re a kid that get re released when you’re an “adult. This game just looked awesome, but it (and honestly most of the games workshop stuff) was waaaaaaaay out of my reach back then. I was kinda pumped when I caught a scrap of info on the net indicating that Blood Bowl was being re-released, then I found out it this was what they were talking about. I’m not complaining, hell, I’m definitely gonna pick up the 360 version, but I was looking forward to an old school board & miniatures game.
